I choose chapter five to write about because it seemed like the most relevant chapter to our second project. Reading this chapter prepared me for writing our research proposal, this chapter explores many brainstorming techniques that can help you choosing a topic for research as well as focusing your topic to stop your research paper from becoming too broad and generic. I specifically liked the section in chapter five about refining your research questions, these tips about taking a broad question and focusing into a complex and analytical question helped me a great deal when writing the research proposal. In addition, this chapter gave me insight into the importance of doing preliminary research, to ask yourself general questions that can form the basis of your research question and to look at other sources such as articles and blogs to look at what other researchers have done. Furthermore, this chapter goes into depth about the essentials of what makes up a research proposal, for example a research proposal should have a list of potential challenges that you may have to overcome during your research as well as some possible solutions to those challenges.
